Pillars and Angles is how MarketingBlocks keeps your content focused and varied. Pillars are the main themes your brand talks about. Angles are the different ways to approach a subject. Together they shape the post ideas you see in Post Ideas.
When you set up your workspace, MarketingBlocks prepared your content pillars for you. This page is where you review them and change them.
The Three Parts
- Pillar: a main theme your content keeps coming back to.
- Topic: a specific subject inside a pillar. Each pillar has its own list of topics.
- Angle: the approach a post takes to a topic, for example, a listicle or a framework.
The same topic can become several different posts, one for each angle. The Angles tab shows an example: one topic, with a different post idea written for each angle.
How to Get There
From the left-hand menu, click Content to expand it, then click Pillars and Angles. The page has two tabs along the top: Pillars and Angles.

The Pillars Tab
The page is titled Content pillars. Under the heading you’ll find these buttons:
- Show chat
- Regenerate with AI
- Update with AI
- Add pillar
Below them, each pillar has its own card. A card shows:
- The pillar’s number and name
- A pencil icon to rename the pillar
- A trash icon to delete the pillar
- The number of topics it holds (for example, “8 topics”)
- The list of topics under it
- An Add topic box at the bottom

Step 1: Edit a Topic
Move your pointer over a topic. A pencil icon and a trash icon appear next to it. Click the pencil to change the topic, or the trash icon to remove it.
Step 2: Add a Topic
At the bottom of a pillar, type a new topic into Add topic, then click the + icon.
Step 3: Add a Pillar
Click Add pillar to create a new pillar of your own.
Step 4: Update Your Pillars With AI
If you’d rather have AI make the changes, click Update with AI. A window opens that updates your pillars using your instructions and their existing content.
- Read the notes at the top. Each AI result contains 4 to 6 pillars and 8 specific, reusable topics per pillar.
- In Custom instructions, describe what should change. Anything unaffected by your instructions is kept.
- Click Update pillars, or Cancel to close.

The Angles Tab
Click Angles to see how your posts can be approached. At the top you’ll find:
- Search angles to find an angle.
- Filters to narrow the list.
- New angle to create your own.
- A refresh icon.
Each row in the list shows:
- Name: the angle’s name, with a label under it. The angles shown here are marked Platform preset. Examples are Listicle, Their Mistake, Framework, Reframe, FAQ Smash, Story to Insight, and Proof Drop.
- Status: a toggle labeled Enabled that lets you switch an angle on or off.
- Updated: when the angle was last changed.
- Two icons on the right: a copy icon and a pencil icon. Click the pencil to edit the angle.
On the right, a panel titled One topic. Multiple angles. shows an example. It takes one topic and shows how different angles, such as Myth Bust, Framework, and Listicle, each lead to a different post idea.

How Pillars and Angles Shape Your Post Ideas
Every idea on the Post Ideas page is tagged with a pillar and an angle. When you click Generate ideas, you can choose which pillars, topics, and angles to use. Click Manage pillar set in that window to come back to this page.
So if you want your ideas to focus on one theme, adjust your pillars. If you want a different style of post, such as more frameworks or fewer listicles, adjust your angles.
Keep Them Up to Date
Review your pillars from time to time. As your offers and goals change, update the pillars and topics so the ideas you get stay relevant.
