Comment Automation lets you build a bot that automatically responds to comments on your posts by replying publicly, sending a DM, or both based on trigger words you set. It's how you turn engagement (likes, comments, views) into actual conversations and leads, without manually replying to every comment yourself.
Now that you've connected your social accounts and created a campaign, let's set up a Comment Bot that responds automatically.
How to Get There
From the left-hand menu, go to Post Automation. On the Social Growth Engine page, click the Comment Automation tab. Here you'll see any bots you've already created (shown as cards with their name, status, and connected channels), along with a Create Bot button.
Step 1: Bot & Channels
Click + Create Bot to start.
- Bot Name: Give your bot a name so you can identify it later.
- Social Channels: Select which connected accounts this bot should run on. You can select more than one.
- Assigned Post: Choose what the bot applies to:
- All Posts: Runs on everything you publish.
- Specific Post/Campaign: Runs only on a post or campaign you choose.
- Social Media Post: Runs on a specific individual post.
Click Continue.
Step 2: Trigger & Response
Define what activates the bot and what it does when triggered.
- Trigger Type: Any word: The bot responds to any comment.
- Specific word or phrase: The bot only responds when a comment contains a word or phrase you set.
- Response Type: Reply with comment: Replies publicly under the comment.
- Send a Direct Message: Sends the person a DM instead.
- Send a Direct Message & Reply with comment: Does both.
- Note: DM is not available for Threads.
Click Continue.
Step 3: Messages
Compose what the bot actually says. Only the fields relevant to the response type you picked in Step 2 will appear here.
- Reply with comments: Add one or more reply variations (e.g. "Thanks! I've sent it to your DMs," "It's on the way; check your messages "). Multiple variations let the bot rotate replies so it doesn't look repetitive or automated.
- AI-powered Responses: Toggle this on to let AI generate natural variations automatically instead of writing them all yourself. Once enabled, you can set:
- Response Tone (e.g. Friendly)
- Response Length (e.g. Medium)
- AI Personality (e.g. Assistant)
- Creativity Level (e.g. Balanced)
- Language Style (e.g. Conversational)
- Emoji Usage (e.g. None)
- A summary line shows exactly how the AI will respond based on your settings (e.g. "The AI will generate medium responses with a friendly tone using an assistant personality").
Click Continue.
Step 4: Settings
Control how often and how quickly the bot replies.
- Reply Frequency: Every time
- Once per post
- Randomly (to avoid looking automated)
- Delay Response Time (not applicable to X, formerly Twitter): Instant reply
- Delay by a set number of minutes (minimum 1 minute)
Step 5: Go Live
Once everything is set, click Go Live to activate the bot. You can also click Save & Exit at any point to save your progress without activating it yet.
Why This Matters
Comment Automation means every comment gets a timely response even while you're not online, turning casual engagement into a two-way conversation that can lead to a DM, a lead magnet, or a sale, without you manually replying to each one.
